About YRS Scotland 2012

Young Rewired State: Scotland

We are going to start running Young Rewired State weekenders around the UK and Internationally, beginning with this one in Aberdeen, Scotland.

To be held at The University of Aberdeen, over the weekend of December 1 & 2 2012, we would like to invite 50 young Scottish coders, aged 18 or under, to attend and build digital tools: apps, widgets, games and websites - using open government data from Scotland. The weekend will be a traditional Rewired State hack weekend, kicking off at 10am on the Saturday, with coding continuing across two days and presentations of prototypes on Sunday afternoon to a panel of judges. There will be prizes and pizza! Sadly there will be no overnight hacking on the premises, as the University is unable to cope with that - but we will have details of local B&Bs if necessary.

We would also like to invite those aged 19 or over to attend as mentors, helping shape, define and possibly assist with creation during the course of the weekend.

Please register your interest on the forms below either as a participant or a mentor. We are going to reserve five places for those who would like to take part remotely. You will still be included in the show and tell but will need to record your presentation, and you will be mentored remotely.

The event will take place at The University of Aberdeen, AB24 3UE (map)

This event is still looking for sponsors, if you would be interested in helping pay for this, please email emma@rewiredstate.org
